Double click on a word, it is highlighted, selected, and copied to clipboard.

It already works that way. Highlight text in any X application makes it available in your primary selection buffer. You can paste it by middle-clicking. This is consistent across the entire system and is exactly how it should work. If you want to overwrite your clipboard selection buffer, it requires manually copying the selection with ctrl-shift-C.

This is not a Guake issue: What's the difference between Primary Selection and Clipboard Buffer?. If you hate yourself use something like autocutsel or parcellite to sync them.
