Having perhaps some control over GPIO pin states manually will further enhance such a fantastic project. Of course, I am aware of the facility via detection, but I cannot see a manual method of setting a pins state from the interface. If possible, perhaps four configurable buttons, as a suggestion for many uses to benefit.
My particular case is my camera board has a built in IR-CUT to switch between normal and night vision mode. I was able to change the state of the filter via a GPIO pin. It would have numerous other use cases as one could imagine, such as adding extra light to an area, playing a recorded message to warn off vandals, locking a door once a person has left an area etc...
