In my home surveillance setup I have a number of external triggers (outdoor PIRs). Rather than having my video surveillance record based on those (or video analysis based) triggers I record video continuously and use the triggers as markers for when to have a look at what is going on. Having a continuos stream of recorded video allows me to always have a complete record outside of the triggers which has proven useful on a number of occasions. I've tried using motion detection video algorithms in the past but due to car light flaring at night and trees and the changing cloud cover during the day, it's proven too difficult to have a reliable video based triggering. Continuous recording with reliable outdoor PIRs (I use optex) have proven a reliable solution for me over the last 3 years.
I've read somewhere on the site that continuous recording is not on the roadmap but I wanted to suggest it since I would love to use kerberos.io but since it cannot record continuously I am unable to use it.
